Dear Pennsauken Families:
This summer of 2017 at Pennsauken, students will have the opportunity to participate in Summer Enrichment. Summer enrichment programs are designed for highly motivated learners. Parents and students may request a seat by filling out a request form that is located on our website. These forms will also be available at every main office in the district. Classes will consist of 60 minute blocks of mathematics, science, language arts, and the student's choice of physical education or music. Students will be able to ignite their interest in the award winning musical programs here in Pennsauken or physical education classes with a direct correlation to the sport of their focus. Summer enrichment will be four days a week, Monday through Thursday from 8:00AM to 12:00PM. Summer enrichment will commence Monday June 26th and conclude Thursday August 10th.
There will be a limited number of openings in each program area. We will fill the openings with the students who have demonstrated the greatest interest, task commitment, and achievement in each of the areas in their school setting. Each student who is selected receives an acceptance form on May 21, 2017. All acceptance forms must be signed by parents and returned to the school no later than May 31, 2017. SPACE IS LIMITED! If a student does not return the application by the deadline, his/her slot is offered to the next child on the waiting list.
NOTE: Although there is no charge for summer enrichment programs, parents may be asked to purchase supplies or pay field trip costs. This amount should not exceed $20.00 per child per program.
Summer Enrichment Classes will be held at the Park Avenue Campus for grades 2 through 6 and at the high school for grades 7 through 11. Attendance is mandatory. If a student is absent 3 or more days, they will be dismissed from the summer enrichment program. Parents must make the transportation arrangements for their children as the school district will not provide school bus services for this program. Parents are asked to park in parking spaces, not near sidewalks, for the safety of the students.
2nd NOTE: Students in need of credit recovery will have access to these services through Educere. This will be a cost to the parent and is determined by the number of classes necessary for the student. Each class will be $200.00 and students will need to take the classes in a computer lab on either the High School or Park Avenue Campus. Credit recovery courses will be monitored by a teacher in every computer lab.
