School Buses Pennsauken Logo Special Services Department Marty DeLape, Director of Special Services        Email: mdelape@pennsauken.net Tamara Schmitt, Supervisor of Special Services        Email: tschmitt@pennsauken.net For school age children, every effort is made to assist the student in regular education classes. The intervention & Referral Services (I&RS) Committee develops interventions that will be implemented in the regular education class. However, if these interventions do not meet the needs of the student, a referral can be made to the child study team or speech language specialist. A teacher, administrator, parent, other school staff, or an agency can make a referral. However, if warranted, a direct referral to the child study team or speech language specialist is appropriate. Parents are involved in every step of the decision-making process from meeting with the I&RS Committee, to giving consent to evaluate, to giving information regarding their childʼs development history and their perception of their childʼs needs and finally, if eligible, giving consent for services.
