February 2026
As we move through February, a time when families and schools are already thinking ahead to the next academic year, I am pleased to provide additional context about the 2026–2027 school year calendar, which has been shared on our website and through social media. For the upcoming academic year, staff will return on Monday, August 24, 2026, and students will begin school on
Wednesday, August 26, 2026. The first two days will be dedicated to professional learning and classroom preparation so that teachers and school teams are fully ready to welcome students on the first day.
We understand that the school calendar is an important part of family planning, and the decision to begin the school year earlier was made thoughtfully, with student learning and success at the center. Starting earlier offers a number of benefits for students, families, and the school community. An earlier start helps reduce the “summer slide,” giving students the chance to
return to school while their learning habits are still fresh. This allows them to build on prior knowledge and start the year with confidence. It also provides a smoother transition, helping students reestablish routines, reconnect with classmates, and adjust to new teachers and expectations more gradually, which is particularly helpful for younger students and those entering a new school.
Beginning the year earlier also allows for more instructional time spread evenly across the year, reducing the pressure to rush through content before state testing or the end of the school year. Teachers can pace lessons thoughtfully, and students have more time to fully grasp new concepts. Additionally, starting earlier supports early interventions, giving schools the opportunity to identify students who need extra academic or social-emotional support sooner and
provide help before gaps widen. This can make a difference in both confidence and long-term achievement. An earlier start also increases flexibility for unforeseen events, such as weather-related closures, allowing the district to maintain instructional time without disrupting learning later in the year.
For middle and high school students, an earlier start better aligns with standardized testing schedules, college application timelines, and credit-earning opportunities, ensuring that students stay on track for graduation and postsecondary readiness. Overall, this calendar reflects careful planning designed to support student growth and instructional quality.
We are grateful for the continued partnership and trust of our families and community. The full 2026–2027 school calendar is available on the Pennsauken Public School District website, and we encourage families to review it and reach out with any questions. We look forward to working with students, staff, and families to make the 2026-2027 school year a successful and rewarding experience for every child in Pennsauken.
January 2026
As we return from a wonderful winter break and a joyful holiday season, I want to take this opportunity to welcome everyone in the Pennsauken community back to school. I hope the past few weeks provided time to rest, recharge, and enjoy meaningful moments with family and friends. The start of a new year always brings a renewed sense of purpose, and walking through our buildings these last few days, I have seen that energy reflected in the smiles of our students and the dedication of our staff. There is something special about the feeling of a fresh start, and I am grateful to begin 2026 with such a strong and supportive community.
Coming back from the break, our focus is on reconnecting with one another and rebuilding the routines that help our students feel grounded and ready to learn. January is a month of transition shifting from holiday excitement back into academic momentum and our students have embraced this shift with enthusiasm. I am incredibly proud of the way they continue to show resilience,
curiosity, and a genuine desire to succeed. Our teachers and staff also returned refreshed, bringing new ideas, renewed energy, and commitment to helping every child reach their potential.
As we move further into the New Year, we remain dedicated to strengthening academic achievement, enhancing student well-being, and continuing the growth we have built throughout the first half of the school year. This includes supporting our learners through high-quality instruction, enriched opportunities, and targeted interventions where needed. We are also placing
a strong emphasis on mental and emotional health, recognizing that students learn best when they feel safe, supported, and connected. In addition, the holiday season often reminds us of the importance of community, and we intend to carry that spirit forward by deepening our partnerships with families, local organizations, and the many individuals who contribute to the success of our schools.
I truly believe that this year holds tremendous promise for Pennsauken. With renewed energy and continued collaboration, we will build on our achievements and create even more opportunities for our students to thrive. I am honored to serve this wonderful community, and I want to thank each of you for your ongoing support and involvement. Together, we will make 2026 a year of growth, positivity, and shared success.
December 2025
As the holiday season approaches and we prepare to close out another year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the accomplishments, growth, and resilience we have witnessed across the Pennsauken School District. This year has been filled with exciting learning opportunities, innovative programs, and countless examples of our students, teachers, and staff going beyond to make our schools vibrant, engaging places to learn. From small group learning that meets every student’s needs to initiatives that support academic excellence, our schools continue to be hubs of curiosity, creativity, and achievement.
This season has also brought moments of joy and celebration to our community. Our Holiday concerts were wonderful reminders of the talent, dedication, and holiday spirit of our students and staff. It was truly heartwarming to see families gather, share in the music, and celebrate the season together. These special events highlight not only the academic achievements of our students but also the strong sense of community that makes Pennsauken Schools so special.
During this special time of year, it is also a wonderful moment to recognize the power of our community. Families, staff, and community partners have shown tremendous support, and your involvement enriches the educational experience for every student. Your encouragement, participation, and feedback remind us that education is a shared journey and together, we are helping our students grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well.
Looking ahead to 2026, we remain committed to continuous improvement and innovation. Our focus will continue to be on high-quality instruction, strengthened curriculum, and professional development that equips our teachers to support every learner. We are piloting new programs and tools, expanding learning opportunities, and refining instructional practices to ensure all students have the resources and experiences they need to thrive. We will also continue to place a strong emphasis on math and literacy, along with fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills that prepare our students for the future.
As we celebrate the joys of the season, I want to extend my sincere gratitude to every member of our Pennsauken family students, teachers, staff, families, and community partners. Your dedication, hard work, and support make our district a truly special place. I wish you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with peace, happiness, and cherished moments. May the New Year bring continued success, growth, and opportunity for all of our students and for our entire community.
November 2025
I am pleased to share that our district leadership team, along with members of the Board of Education, recently attended the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) Workshop 2025. This annual event continues to serve as an outstanding opportunity for educational leaders across the state to engage in meaningful professional development, collaborate with peers, and explore innovative practices that can elevate the work we do in our schools.
The workshop featured a wide range of sessions on timely and impactful topics, including student mental health, effective school governance, curriculum innovation, and the thoughtful integration of technology in education. Our team attended with purpose eager to gather new strategies, best practices, and insights that we can bring back and implement here in Pennsauken.
A key theme that emerged throughout the conference was the importance of fostering a supportive and empowering learning environment for all. As a district, we remain deeply committed to prioritizing the well-being of every student and staff member, and to creating school communities where everyone feels respected, valued, and inspired to succeed.
The workshop also offered us the opportunity to connect with fellow districts sharing our experiences and learning from their stories of innovation and resilience. These partnerships are vital as we continue to grow and evolve as a united district working toward a shared vision of excellence.
As we approach the Thanksgiving season, the messages of collaboration, reflection, and gratitude resonate even more strongly. This is a time for all of us to pause and appreciate the relationships and support systems that enrich our lives both at home and within our school community.
At Pennsauken Public Schools, we believe that strong family engagement plays a powerful role in student success. During this season of thanks, I encourage everyone to take time to reconnect, reflect on your blessings, and offer encouragement to one another.
I also want to extend my sincere appreciation to all of you our students, families, staff, and community members. Your support, partnership, and dedication are what make Pennsauken a truly special place to learn, grow, and thrive.
Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful, peaceful, and heartwarming Thanksgiving.

A New Day In Pennsauken Public Schools
Earlier this month, I had the privilege of meeting with our incredible district staff at the annual Convocation to share my vision for the 2025–2026 school year. It was a powerful moment; one filled with optimism, honesty, and a collective commitment to the future of Pennsauken Public Schools.
Now, I want to share that same message directly with you: our families, our community members, and most importantly, our students.
This school year is not just the beginning of another academic calendar; it is the beginning of a new chapter for our district. With new leadership comes a clean slate and a real opportunity to restart, renew, and reimagine how we serve our students. Together, we are turning the page. It is a new day in Pennsauken.
We are grounding our work in what I call the Three Ps of Pennsauken: Process, Progress, and Proficiency.
Process
Process is how we do our work, how we function as a unified school system, not a collection of individual schools. When each school operates on its own island, students suffer. This year, we are committed to aligning curriculum, evaluating programs for impact, and ensuring consistency across classrooms. That consistency builds trust and gives our students the stability they deserve.
Progress
Progress is about intentional and measurable growth. It is about getting a little better each day. As Coach John Wooden once said, “When you improve a little each day, eventually big things occur.” We must not be discouraged by slow change. True progress requires reflection, adjustment, and persistence. It takes time, but it lasts.
Proficiency
Proficiency is our non-negotiable. Our students deserve to leave every grade level fully prepared for what comes next whether it is the next classroom, the next challenge, or the next chapter in life. They are capable. In addition, it is our responsibility to guide them there.
Let me share a vision with you, one inspired by rowing. I think for too long, it felt like you have all been paddling hard, but sometimes in different directions. The result? You have gone in circles. However, every successful crew team has a coxswain, the leader who sets the course, keeps rhythm, and ensures every one rows in sync.
With new leadership and renewed focus, we now have that coxswain. It is time for Pennsauken to row together with purpose, power, and precision.
But we must also face a difficult truth: our foundation hasn’t been as strong as it needs to be. For years, you have worked tirelessly, but often on uneven ground. It has felt like trying to build on sand. But sand can’t hold the weight of the dreams we have for our children. We need to rebuild, not just repair. We need to lay a foundation of rock.
That is why our elementary schools will be a major focus this year. The foundation of learning starts there. If our youngest learners receive strong, consistent instruction and support, our middle and high schools will be set up for long term success. This is how we ensure that each student is positioned to achieve step by step, year by year.
We are not here just to maintain. We are here to transform. Our students are watching us. They will feel the difference in our energy, our vision, and our commitment.
The poet Maya Angelou once said, “Do the best you can until you know better. Then when you know better, do better.” Well, in Pennsauken, we know better and this year, we will do better.
Let us remember: no team wins a race if the rowers are out of sync or if the boat is leaking. This year, with a clear direction and an intentional focus on the basics, we will row forward together.
We will not drift. We will not spin. We will move forward united and determined. Let us embrace the process, celebrate our progress, and commit to achieving proficiency for every single student. Let us build the strong foundation our children deserve because they deserve nothing less.
It is a new day in Pennsauken. Let us build it together.

Welcoming Pennsauken Families, Community Members To A New School Year
As we begin a new school year, I am excited to welcome our students, families, staff, and community partners back to the Pennsauken School District. Whether you are a returning student or family; a new member of our school community; or a long-time Pennsauken resident, I am excited for all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
It is an incredible honor to serve as your superintendent, and I take that responsibility very seriously. At the heart of everything we do in the Pennsauken School District is our belief that students deserve access to a safe, supportive, and high-quality education; one that prepares them not only for academic success, but also for life beyond the classroom. This mission drives every decision we make.
Over the summer, our schools have been busy preparing for the year ahead. Classrooms have been refreshed, facilities improved, and new programs planned, all designed to create an environment where students feel welcomed, inspired, and ready to learn. We continue to invest in expanding academic opportunities, career pathways, extracurricular activities, and mental health supports to meet the needs of the whole child.
But schools don’t thrive on academics alone. They flourish when there is a strong sense of community and that is something Pennsauken has in abundance. Our strength lies in our diversity, our resilience, and the deep care our families and staff show for one another. It is this spirit that makes our district such a special place to live, learn, and grow.
As we move forward, I encourage all families and community members to stay involved. Attend school events. Ask questions. Celebrate your child’s progress and collaborate with us when challenges arise. We are at our best when we work together, and your voice matters deeply in shaping the future of our schools.
Thank you for your trust, your partnership, and your support of our students. I am confident that this school year will be filled with meaningful growth, lasting memories, and continued progress. I look forward to seeing many of you at our schools and community events in the weeks and months ahead.
Here is to a strong start and a great year!
